(ABC 6 News) -- A local winery and vineyard have a special story to tell relevant to the Mother’s Day holiday. Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery is owned by Vicky Vogt and her family, and she can proudly say she works side by side now with at least 3 of her 4 daughters.
Working with her daughters is the reason she thought of opening the vineyard in the first place. After all daughters moved away from the state of Minnesota, Vicky said she could stop thinking about an agricultural endeavor that would bring them back home. From there, the vineyard and winery was born.
ABC 6 News spoke with Vicky and one of her daughters, Kristen Osborne, who said working as a mother/daughter team has highs and lows. The family has certainly hit some highs, now able to say they have served their wine at the famous Sundance Film Festival in Utah for three years running.
“Mothers and daughters working together is always good, I think it’s always good, you learn something about each other and it may not have been something you knew before because everyone’s working styles are different,” Vicky said.
Kristen says even though running a business can be difficult, working with her Mom is a no brainer.
“It’s someone you want to be with every day anyway…sharing your highs and lows together in your work life and your personal life…in our morning phone call, we can talk about my son at school and the same moment we can talk about an upcoming event…” Kristen said.
The local business did hold a special sold-out brunch for Mom’s and their families on Mother’s Day.
